Senate actions on Patterson resolution and Rosebud bill
In Washington on Friday the senate laid the Patterson resolution asking Major Gardener in the Philippines to testify before the Philippines committee. The Rosebud Sioux agreement bill was taken up as the Indian appropriation bill discussion continued with a conference report. A state department suggestion to postpone the St Louis exposition from 1903 to 1904 was read. An amendment to open the exposition May 1, 1904 while dedicating buildings by April 30, 1903 was referred. The free homes provision for homestead settlers on Rosebud was rejected, and Pritchard urged the Philippines bill amid a sharp exchange with Simmons over political lines.
