Blanket Primary Defeated in Texas House Vote
In Austin on March 29 the Texas House defeated a direct blanket primary amendment by 71 to 41 as part of the senate election bill. The chamber also adopted Wednesday’s blanket primary provisions and forwarded the bill to engrossment amid calls for a conference. The Legislature approved $35,000 for a called session per diem. A later senate resolution on investigating stockholding state officials prompted public letters from the Capital Bank and Trust Company officials.
