A report notes a train ran at thirty miles an hour during a diabolical deed but failed to reach its target. Investigators seek suspects and motive while officials emphasize safety protocols.
Train No. 20 of the Pennsylvania Keystone Express derailed near Wilmerding Pennsylvania. No injuries reported though experts say the wreck may have been deliberate. Similar tactics were used on the Chicago Limited at Stewart last Friday. Spike removal and bent rails were found along Nos. 3 and 4 with track tools nearby and debris in a creek below.
A Northern Pacific passenger train bound for Duluth derailed at Carrollton Minnesota. The engineer and fireman were killed while telegraph poles were toppled and communication with Duluth was cut off. Meager reports from NP headquarters suggest no passengers were killed.
Royal proclamation issued in Bucharest under King Charles promises tax relief and state or peasant farming of lands. Limits large landholdings to 8,000 acres and vows laws to aid peasantry, ease rents, reform taxation, and revise tenancy terms to end civil war in Moldavia and Wallachia.
In Montgomery Alabama 125 street car men employed by the Montgomery Traction company went on strike.
A deadly confrontation in Muskogee left four people dead after an incident reported by local authorities. Investigators are reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the sequence of events and identify those involved.
In Mukkogee a so called Socialist club of African Americans armed with detective commissions resisted a city eviction. Deputies and police surrounded a northern district house. A member fired on them killing Policeman John Cofield and wounding Guy Fisher. The firefight left multiple dead including Albert and James Barker. Cofield survived.
