Pineville, opposite Alexandria, suffers partial flooding as Red River nears dangerous levels. Many plantations flood without levees. several families abandon homes. River rising threatens greater inundation, rainfall since January heavy, with 25.1 inches by Thursday. Local levees strengthened but conditions remain serious.
A Tucson dispatch reports six killed when bandits held up a Yaqui river stage between Potam and Torin in Sonora. Victims include Filiberta Alvarado, a wealthy ranch owner, and two young women from prominent families. All belongings were looted and the horses released. Authorities in Guaymas suspect mountain bandits watched for Alvarado. the exact attack details remain unclear.
