Dowie Dies at Shiloh House After Delirious Final Surge
John Alexander Dowie died at 7 40 this morning at Shiloh house View City with Judge D N Barnes and two attendants present. About 350 faithful attended Sunday parlor services as his health declined after a period of seclusion. Dowie’s death followed a delirious final phase during which he denounced opponents and ordered guards to eject disturbers.

Desperate Boat Fight Ends in Three Deaths on Kentucky River
In Seargent Kentucky on March 9 Thacker Rice Speed and Elijah Bailey were slain in a brutal crossing of the Middle Fork of the Kentucky river. John Ellsmore, badly wounded, survived with two companions after a dispute with Ellsmore escalated into an oar strike followed by pistol and knife combat. The men died after reaching shore. The deadly incident occurred after a neighbor's celebration.
