A head on collision between a regular and a special train on the New Haven line near Platt Mills, Waterbury, killed three crew members and injured many, including Governor Woodruff’s party from Company F the Greys. The special carried about sixty five Connecticut National Guard members and Governor Woodruff escaped injury. The crash occurred after the special ran past a meeting point while returning from a banquet.

Louisiana Rivers Inspect Mission Planned by House Committee
Washington March 2 The house committee on rivers and harbors will visit Louisiana to inspect its rivers. They will meet in New Orleans on March 25, travel to the Mississippi locks, Bayou La Fourche and Bayou Plaquemine, then Red River and Atchafalaya to the gulf. The tour includes Shreveport and Red River from there to New Orleans with a swing through southwestern Louisiana to study salt mines oil fields and sugar plantations.
