Two Men Hanged in Alabama For Murders on Prison Break

Frank Miller the well known safe robber was hanged at 10 55 this morning for the murder of Policeman J W Adams during an escape attempt on the way to prison Miller and his ally Frank Duncan were under arrest for burglary at the Standard Oil office when they broke away and shot the officers Alonzo Williams a negro life prisoner then hanged an hour later for killed fellow convict Bob Callahan in Pratt mines penitentiary Williams prayed and shouted in death while Miller professed innocence and Duncan was not yet disposed of

The Engineering and Mining Journal reports 1900 US metal and mineral output valued at $1,365,608,583 up from $1,218,214,637 in 1899. Coal led in quantity and value with 268,314,431 short tons, while pig iron totaled 18,780,242 tons including Spiegeleisen and ferromanganese. Copper ranked third with 600,832,605 pounds valued at $97,755,449, and gold ranked fifth with $78,159,674.
