Ten Italians Arrested in New Orleans Kidnapping Case
New Orleans on June 14 reports ten Italians detained in the Walter Lamona kidnapping case. A vigilance committee backs police, aided by businessmen from the Cotton Exchange and Board of Trade, pushing Italians to aid in cleansing crime in the city. The search follows the Mississippi River northward with ransom notes and a wagon sighting. Meanwhile James J. Hill predicts government credit support for railroads due to outgrown capacity and a possible shift toward government ownership if finances remain tight.
