Sawmill and Planer Fire Destroys Pow ell Mill in Lake Charles

Lake Charles Louisiana July 22 a double fire at the sawmill and planer of J G Powell on the riverfront destroyed the mill and machinery with lumber in yards in about thirty minutes. Loss estimated between twenty five thousand and one hundred thousand with little insurance owner Powell now in Colorado and a strong wind threatened adjacent property. A bomb in Fyelostok, Russia, on July 22 killed several people and severely wounded others including the town's police chief and his son. Burned Teenager among six injured in car plunge into ditch

In Indianapolis on Friday night a car plunged into a ditch on the river road near Broad Ripple. The burning vehicle exploded a gasoline tank. Olive Johnson, fourteen, of Lima Ohio, was found dead beneath the wreck along with five others burned or bruised. Driver C O Dale suffered serious burns.
