The Madison County Reunion begins on the thirty first of the month with broad invitation to all to join in a bigger and better celebration. The Madisonville Meteor notes the event aims to exceed prior years and welcomes community help.
Prof. E. J. Kyle, chairman of the horticultural exhibits committee, requests that all exhibits reach him by July 9 at College Station Texas. Label each fruit vessel with exact variety and grower, then send to Prof. E. J. Kyle Galveston News.
Sealed bids will be received by the Bryan city council at its next regular meeting on Friday July 18 1906 for the depository of the city funds for the ensuing year. J E Butler mayor and Frank Clarke city secretary.
J. E. Thompson, a 52 year old Texan printer for the Brazos Pilot, died suddenly at his Bryan boarding house after weeks of illness. The body was embalmed by James & Nunn and shipped to Bastrop for interment. Dr. Dechard accompanied the remains. He leaves a mother and other relatives in Austin.
Wiley Reed died in Rogers Texas on Thursday night and his remains were moved to Bryan for burial in Wixon. The 24 year old was a son of Wilson Reed and nephew of Mrs. T J Preston. He married Lizzie Cook and left a wife and two children. The funeral was at 11 a m with Rev G A Foster officiating.
Mr Albert Bullock asks the Eagle to announce a Bethel barbecue and basket dinner postponed by weather will be held Thursday July 12 at Bethel Academy. Everyone is invited and ample water will be available for stock.
Hon O B Colquitt candidate for governor will address the Bryan courthouse at 7:30 p m Friday July 13 1906 all invited to attend. In other notices Mrs W H Webb returned from El Paso visiting her son Mal Webb and ranch near the Rio Grande. visits and local social updates fill the column.
Judge Banker of the probate court issues a summons for John D. Rockefeller in a suit against Standard Oil and Rockefeller alleging violation of the Valentine anti trust law. The summons is given to Sheriff Groves for service when Rockefeller returns from Europe. the sheriff will also serve Standard Oil through its Cleveland office.
Washington July 7. Forecasts cross continental disturbances from the 9th to 22nd with warm and cool waves across the west Rockies great central valleys and eastern states. Anticipates a sharp temperature fall and cooler spells around storm centers and limited rainfall within July drought zones. Also notes science on magnetism as a weather and plant life factor.
