The obituary notes Colonel Love, elected Limestone county sheriff in 1884 and re elected through 1898, led the Texas Sheriffs Association 1886 to 1894, served as U S marshal for the Northern District of Texas 1894 to 1898, and was state comptroller elected in 1900. He married Lucy Morgan in Moscow Kentucky on January 12, 1870. seven children survive. He was a Cumberland Presbyterian and a high ranking Mason.
