Tokio reports the American steamer M. S. Dollar en route to Viadivestock with provisions and forage was seized Friday in the Pacific east of Hokkaido. Kuropatkin Reports Russian Victory at Sandepas and Shakhe

General Kuropatkin telegraphs that on January 26 Russian forces pressed the offensive near Sandepas repulsing a Japanese attack from the south and southeast. Cavalry maneuvered against the left flank and struck the Japanese in the rear before the Russians occupied Sandepas at 7 p.m. and captured the enemy entrenchments at Shakhe repelling later Japanese attempts to retake them.

Warsaw Street Fight Ends in Two Deaths

A clash on Lesseno street between troops and striking workers left two dead and seven wounded as soldiers used arms. The fight, in the Wolski suburb, involved liquor stores and a sharp police confrontation. A new prefect was appointed in St. Petersburg.
