After a fire on Oct 12 the Bryan Press Company restored a 2000 ton pressure compress. The new press began operation yesterday with a preliminary run of two bales and a first full day of 150 bales. Superintendent Walter Wipprecht oversaw rebuilding with Dallas engineer S. H. Wynn and Mr. Phillips of Dallas guiding construction. The faster, lower profile machine will ease Bryan’s cotton receipts handling and boost output to about 100 bales per hour.
Allen Smith shipped twelve hundred turkeys to Northern Produce Co of Houston. E C Hesse represented the Houston firm here. Turkeys priced at 8 12 cents each, mostly bought from Brazos County Farmers Union members, about $1500 paid in cash. Depot area crowded with wagons as unloads continued. President J H White and Business Agent Jesse Peters joined union members from across the county.
