Week in Congress War Tax Reduction Stalls
The House failed to secure a $70 million war tax cut though the pension bill passed. Debate and votes covered district divisions, Lanham Texas, private pensions, and District of Columbia matters. The Senate focused on the Hay Pauncefote treaty and ship subsidy, with army funding pending. In Atchison and Wabash, cases and gas supply issues filled local and national pages.
