Texan Lieutenant Invents Army Rifle Sighting Device
Lieutenant T C Dickson of the regular army ordnance department in Springfield Massachusetts developed a windage adjustable rifle sight. The sight corrects drift for ranges up to 1200 yards regardless of wind direction, and a plant will produce 1000 sights daily to equip about 120,000 army rifles in four months. An anonymous admirer sent Miss Helen Gould a ten inch shell for her Tarrytown home, with various war relics from vessels and land forces displayed in her collection.
