Valdosta hangings end Georgia murder case legacy
J G Rawlins and Alf Moore were hanged in Valdosta at 10 55 am Tuesday for the 1906 Carter killings. Rawlins died instantly while Moore showed life for twelve minutes. Both men claimed truth in last statements with Moore blaming Milton Rawlins. Mrs Rawlins and two daughters visited the jail but did not witness the execution. The case drew unprecedented legal battles and a long feud related to the July 12 1965 killings.
