Investigation at Fort Ringgold Detailed
Adjutant General Thomas Scurry returned from Rio Grande City with voluminous testimony on the Fort Ringgold clash between negro soldiers and citizens. Conflicting witness accounts show citizens fought the garrison, with origins linked to drunken soldiers and gambling dens. If guilt is clear, authorities may press charges. Also, Santa Fe brakeman Fred Hess suffered a severe leg injury after a Davis wreck and remains critically ill at home.
