Newport News reports the battleship Kearsarge will conduct its first trial voyage between September 5 and 15. Wrong Man Killed After River Assault In Noel Missouri
Bill Mathey known as Wild Bill Mathey was shot and killed at Noel Missouri after attempting to force two strangers in a river bathing scene to wade with clothes on. One attacker fired, striking Mathey in the neck and shoulder, leading to his death within minutes. The two men involved are held for preliminary examination.
