Fort Worth, Sept 8 The board of directors of the State Agricultural and Mechanical College adjourned without electing a new president after ballots were cast for several candidates including W S Sutton H H Harrington W J Clay and Henry S Hartzog. Five votes were needed among eight members to elect with Sutton and Harrington leading. resignation of President Houston had been accepted and resolutions complimenting his service were adopted.
Mayor Baker receives Captain Jadwin’s report on boats built for Brazos navigation from Richmond to Galveston. Jadwin outlines craft 75 to 175 feet long, 17 to 32 feet wide, drawing about 20 inches, with most cargo on barges to reduce draft.
