Terrible Locust Street explosion devastates Philadelphia block

A blast on Locust street above Tenth wrecked five buildings, killed at least ten, and injured many as a gasoline barrel likely started the fire. Fire and rescue crews battled flames and flames spread across the street as hospitals prepared for the injured.

White residents seek writ to claim Oklahoma lands

Eleven white men and women or descendants of whites married to Indians have filed for a writ of mandamus to force the secretary of the interior to permit their land selections and block settlement. They say they were denied allotments they are entitled to under old law, citing long residence and improvements on the lands with ties to Quanah Parker kinship. Jackson police inspector fatally shoots rival over dispute
