In Galveston on August 4, John Cole age 48 was found dead in a vacant building. Two vials labeled laudanum were found nearby and a verdict of self destruction was rendered. His wife had died in the same manner several months earlier.
In Beeville Texas on August 4 Rev W G Gates aged Methodist minister who had been reported resuscitated after being pronounced dead died Friday from his illness. In Snyder Texas on August 4 an unknown man was killed near a school land section. Berry Perseley went to Claremont and surrendered to the sheriff.
