Lawton Townsite Rapid Growth Near Fort Sill
Fort Sill Oklahoma Territory August 3 reports Lawton a new town of 10,000 growing up overnight just outside the fort limits after a land lottery. Lawton has 40 temporary business houses, three streets laid out, plans for a national bank, and thousands camp ahead of sale on August 6. Six more townsites were approved further speculation and rail line routes described.
