Striking railway workers back Harding plan to settle

Chiefs of six federated shop crafts in Chicago voted to accept President Harding’s proposals to end the railroad strike and sent a committee to draft the acceptance text. Timothy Healy and the stationary firemen and oilers union concurred, while executives had previously rejected the plan in New York.

Dr Alexander Graham Bell Dies at Bad Deck Estate

Sidney New York August 2 Dr Alexander Graham Bell inventor of the telephone died at his home Beinn Breagh Estate near Baddock two oclock this morning. Bell had been failing in recent months but remained at his bed until the end. His daughter Mrs Mirriam Groshenor and other relatives were at his side.

Watermelon Feast Enjoyed by Free Baptists

The Christian Endeavorers of the Free Baptists church gathered at 8 pm Tuesday to ride from the church to Carter's Creek three miles east of Bryan for a watermelon feast. About fifty youths shared a carefree outing, chaperoned by Mrs. W. Buchanan and Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Tatum, enjoying cool breezes and hay perfume.
