Watchorn May Resign to Head New Exclusion Bureau
Robert Watchorn, commissioner of immigration for the port of New York, on his return from Europe, is said to resign to lead a new bureau in the commerce and labor department named the exclusion branch. The unit would cooperate with European governments to prevent anarchists from entering the United States. Secretary Straws approves, North of San Francisco to succeed Watchorn when his term ends next year. Watchorn met with Tittoni in Rome on anarchist talks and was received by the pope. In Lawton Oklahoma on April 29, thirty ladies organized the Ladies Hospital Aid Society.
