Bloodiest Portland tragedy rocks new telephone building
Portland April 26 An electrician Thomas Brainerd employed by the telephone company for 20 years opened fire in a new building. He killed one man I Y Farnwright fatally wounded two others and wounded Deputy Marshal W A Frith attempted arrest. Several victims named Elmer Z Lane James Wadsworth and Earl Baxton died or were severely injured. Motive listed as insanity.

Lincoln's Body Moved to New Monument Crypt
Lincoln and family remains were moved from a temporary vault to the monument crypt in Springfield Illinois. The casket was not reopened as done 14 years prior. The Illinois rebuild cost $100000 and restores Lincoln, his wife, Willie, Thomas, Eddie, and Abraham son of Robert T. Lincoln.
