Big Railroad Deal Rumored In Southwest Consolidation
Wall Street circles expect a major railway consolidation in the southwest as Missouri Pacific and Texas and Pacific assets weigh in. Rockefeller interests have bought Missouri Pacific, with talks of absorbing Texas and Pacific and St Louis Southwestern into a unified system spanning Missouri, Kansas and Texas to Galveston and Fort Worth. Official confirmation is unclear while exchange proposals float at one Missouri Pacific share for three Texas and Pacific shares.
