Receiver named for Texarkana and Fort Smith railway
Judge D E Bryant grants Missouri Kansas and Texas Trust Company motion to appoint a receiver for the Texarkana and Fort Smith railway. Hon R A Greer of Beaumont is named receiver. The line covered runs from Red River to the Arkansas state line and from the Louisiana line to Port Arthur in Texas. The hearing occurred in Beaumont with a broader suit proceeding in Kansas City.

Suit to Foreclose Kansas City Gulf Railway Mortgage
New York Trust Company seeks 23000000 to foreclose its mortgage on the Kansas City Pittsburg and Gulf railway south of the Missouri river. A receiver may be appointed to protect bondholders and halt actions. The suit targets the Pittsburg and Gulf and Missouri Kansas Texas Trust company as trustees amid claims of default and insolvency. Also, Santiago Morphy alias Mexican Morphy was arrested in Kansas City on embezzlement charges, jailed after resisting with a revolver drawn at his head.
