Monument for Alamo heroes proposed in Texas
Local banks and most banks in the county support a drive by the Alamo Heroes' Monument Association to fund a large monument in memory of those who died defending the Alamo. San Antonio citizens are contributing and about one million tickets will be sold statewide. The monument, 120 feet high with a museum and auditorium, will be state property and serve as a patriotic center for various veterans and heritage groups.
