Austin February 16 Indications point to a joint resolution to submit to voters a constitutional amendment requiring naturalization before voting In Texas This measure if adopted would disenfranchise about 40000 Mexicans in the southwest portion of the state The house has approved the resolution and the constitutional amendments committee favors the proposal
Reported speculation says the present Legislature will be recalled to pass the general appropriation bill. Observers think the session could occur at the end of the current term or in the summer. Legislators warn the 66 day limit may force about 60 more days to finish pending measures.
Avan Feilar Polenki led a cornerstone ceremony at 3 PM today for UT Austin’s new education building. Governor Ferguson, President Tyxan, and state officials attended as Frank J. Donce and Masonle figures spoke. the permanent five story structure will house education offices and classrooms, with an estimated cost of 417,000.
