A hurricane force storm battered Charleston South Carolina and Savannah Georgia, wiping out earlier reports of flooding. A Washington briefing from Brancaville DC noted storm movement toward the Gulf, with disrupted communications leaving Charleston and nearby ports without full shipment updates. The final destination remained uncertain as reports from Georgetown and Beaufort were interrupted.
