A burglary case from Linneus involves Havens and Carter with a watch stolen from a jeweler. Havens was jailed while awaiting trial after confessing to the break in. Carter denied involvement. Sheriff and deputy moved Havens to jail as authorities pursue further charges. Separately, notices announce annual stockholders meeting in Browning Missouri and a sensational pitch about stock speculation profits.
Browning Public Schools opened last Monday with Supt E M Wilson in charge though books were scarce. Total enrollment reached 172 with small high school and grammar sections. several new teachers were introduced and five board members attended.

Imeda Jane Jerome dies in Linn county Missouri after long life of Christian faith. Born Jane Basket May 6 1857 near Elmwood Sullivan county, she joined the Methodist church at 15 near Scottsville. Married to Chancy Jerome in 1869, they settled on the Morris Baker farm in 1892. Mother of 13, seven survive. Described as living Christian ideals, she sought to do good and was beloved by friends. Favorite scripture Revelation 14 13.
Milan baseball team falls to Browning for the third time this year after a strong start. Gable pitches well through four and a half innings. Mullins leads off with a three base hit but is left on third as the Milan offense stalls in the later frames. Browning builds a large lead with timely hits and steals.
September 3 match saw Milan's kid team lose 2-0 to Browning's small boys. Browning pressured Milan early and solid defense sealed the win with goals from their forwards.
