A light rain improves conditions in Purdin and cooler temperatures arrive. Tom Armstrong is gravely ill with little hope of recovery. Several locals attended events in nearby towns including Kansas City. A burial service drew many from Purdin for Mrs. Lucy Dodge Hunter. Town residents visit shops, hospitals, and homes for social calls and fruit harvesting.
Mr and Mrs R L Brown visited Kansas City over the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Sam Watterson and Mr and Mrs Chas Ostert. Mrs Watterson is a local resident noted in social circles.

Archie Coffmann Dean Grismer and B O Brantner attended the American Royal in Kansas City with a group from Fairview District. Nearby, neighbors and relatives gathered at John Tucker’s home for a Wednesday visit and a Saturday evening gathering with Devaun Tucker and guests including Leonard Mitchell and Doris Mitchell. Mrs Devaun Tucker celebrated her birthday with a surprise of wine, oysters, angel food cake and cherry pies among Mr and Mrs Devaun Tucker and Mr and Mrs Frank present.
Mr and Mrs John Tucker and others joined Mrs E W Riley for a card night and neighborhood work on October 16. Men roofed the house while women prepared dinner and shared visits with neighbors and friends.

Wm Hale couple attended a sale near Bucklin Thursday. Mr and Mrs Glen Abbott were summoned to Wadsworth last Saturday due to son Earl’s illness. Dr Cable of Green City treated B O Brantner, who was moved to Kirksville hospital Monday as his condition did not improve.
