Cynthia Jane Bennett, born February 11, 1860, died October 21, 1933 at age 73 years 8 months 10 days. Wife of C E Murphy, mother of a son who died young. Survived by husband, adopted son Orlin Murphy, wife and baby, two nieces Mrs Ada Stone and Mrs Bernice Cotter, a nephew Lafe Bennett, cousins and friends. Joined South Methodist Church about 35 years ago. Funeral conducted by Rev W W Clay at home on Monday October 28. Burial Mundell cemetery.

Peanut Lodged In Long Saturday Accident
Mr and Mrs H D Parkinson of DeWitt and son Raymond visited with Mr and Mrs Edgar Carter when Raymond began eating peanuts and half a peanut entered his windpipe. Dr Brownback located the nut fragment in bronchial tubes and advised swift travel to Kansas City for removal. Edgar Carter rushed them to the hospital and a specialist later removed the object from the lung.

Farm House Burned on Malachi Long Farm
Edwin Martin living on the Malachi Long farm awoke Tuesday morning to a stove fire. Mrs. Martin saw smoke, called for Edwin, and fled with the children to the barn for help. Returning, they found the roof ablaze and with little time, saved only a few belongings as the house burned.
