Mrs Anna Fife born Annie Turner in Madison County Kentucky on September 24 1848 died October 10 1918 at the home of her son L F Fife four miles west of Armstrong after years of illness. She united with the Christian church in school and remained a member. She married Dr Alex Green Fife and had one son Leon F Fife who lived with her. Dr Rife

A southbound passenger train struck a child on a bridge south of Cora as it turned a curve last Friday. The boy, who had stepped onto the west bridge approach, was knocked off by a coach. He died Saturday morning after being taken to Milan with his mother. Funeral services were led by Mr. F. Hardin Leon Dillinger, born August 17, 1916, were noted.
Government through the Red Cross arranges that each boy in France may receive a Christmas package under two pounds thirteen ounces. Browning Red Cross branch collects cartons. relatives must obtain a label from the boy with name and address to secure the box. Pack items that will keep fresh until Christmas and follow local contact Mrs. F. A. Fleming and Mrs. C. B. Keithley for father information.
Browning Missouri area residents announce their son Garnett Venable serves in France with the 20th Company 5th Regiment U S Marines after enlisting in August 1917. He survived a June ankle sprain influenza sidelined him for weeks and missed mail for four months while companions faced injuries and death.
From Camp Polk North Carolina on October 15 1918 a correspondent writes to the editor praising the paper at the camp noting broad readership including many negro residents and the inclusive talk of the people He concludes by saying he would not trade Missouri for the place or its paper.
Charley H. Snell born March 3 1891 Knox County Missouri died October 11 1918 at age 27 buried in North Salem. He left a wife Annie Carmack and three sisters with brothers and other relatives. He served at Camp Funston training and was praised as obedient. Funeral held October 21 at North Salem with many mourners.
In France on Sept 14 1918 a wounded frontlines letter from a soldier to his wife Mrs Sylvia Hollon reports he is well has not heard from her in a month yet has received several letters and photos he asks her to write and mentions Everett and Golda and other correspondents.
