Brown ing Missouri notes warm week weather and a large pie supper at Winigan Theatre hosted by Winigan school. Residents attend street fair in Brown ing while Roscoe McArtor visits Kirksville and family members travel visiting relatives and care centers across the area.
The Browning street fair drew locals Friday and Saturday with hog deliveries by Guy and Roy Peters to D G Havens and hog sales by Glen Brookshier to Havens last week. Mary Jennings visited her sister Mrs Roy Knifong and family Monday. Henry Lawrence entered mules for best team and won blue ribbon. Lucile Marley visited Hazel Dodson weekend. James Compton hosted a birthday surprise party last Tuesday night for his son Jimmie with a large crowd. Roy and Alden Marley Hulda Ann and Milburn Glidewell were guests at C C Dodson’s Sunday evening.
One week of fine weather in North East Linn. Laurence Drier and wife on the sick list. Community members attended Browning street fair Saturday. Ben Purdin and wife visited Perry Christians Sunday. Arthur Cattey and family visited at his father F. M. Cattey’s home Saturday night and Sunday. Clare Tollman filled his silo last Friday. Mrs. Laura Thudhum visited I J McCollum’s home Thursday night and Friday. Sherman Cordray at North Salem to tend his sick father Aunt Mary Cordray. Rolla Bailey and family visited Earl Abbotts Sunday. Estell Watson returns from Kirksville much improved.
Hunters are warned to keep off my farm with guns or dogs. Nursed. G. D. Walker.
Locals recount visits and travel plans as A S Kiser and daughter arrive to see Mrs G W Henry. Herman Maxwell and A E Austin visit the fair and plan winter in California. Dr W C Ingram and family depart for Hillsborough while Charley Hale travels to Yakima to visit family. Homer Hollon and H C Pearson convey thanks, and Ernest Head shows malaria recovery progress.
By decree of partition issued September 8 1923 in a Sullivan County circuit court case Margaret Mairs plaintiff versus John Mairs et al defendants a certified copy delivered September 27 1923 the sheriff will conduct a sale on Monday October 29 starting at nine o'clock A M of described real estate to satisfy the decree and order of sale.
In September 1923 the Sullivan County circuit court will order sale at the north court house door in Milan for cash of extensive farm property in blocks describing sections 33 32 and 20 in township 61 20. The home place with a seven room house furnace water works and outbuildings is included with 200 acres of land plus the bottom farm 226 acres and the White Oak farm 91 acres. Margaret Maiis appears in the notice.
Notice to all creditors and interested parties that Roy M. Calhoun administrator with the will annexed of George W. Knifong deceased plans a final settlement at the Linn County Probate Court Linneus Missouri on November 12 1923. This notice names Roy M. Calhoun as administrator.
Nettie Bingham and Geo C Jaynes administrators of the John Jaynes estate announce their intention to make a final settlement at the next Probate Court term in Linn County Missouri. The session will be held in Linneus on November 12 1923.
Prescott Arizona hearing a disabled veteran Robert Beveridge write a poem urging fellow World War I comrades to join the American Legion. The verse recalling shared memories and battles is read by Mrs. Harry T. Southworth at a Prescott meeting led by Arizona commander Alvin Owsley. The poem seeks renewed commitment and duty to the Legion.
American Legion officials report at Mayo clinic Rochester Minnesota that out of 150 ex service men and women treated in one month only seven required aid from local Legion post funds. Patients came from many states and Canada with most from Minnesota and Illinois. most were self supporting during treatment.
