The University of Missouri urges farmers to choose abundant home grown seed this fall. Field selection yields better, more reliable results than crib selection, as ears from higher yielding plants produce the most grain under same conditions.
The State Highway Department distributes typical plans and specifications under section 18 for road curvature permits. It outlines minimum radius constraints for rounded right angles and recommends hard surfacing methods and gradings of earth roads with a 30 foot ditch span and a 24 foot traffic way, aiming for a crown not exceeding 34 of an inch per foot.
The guidance notes a 24 foot width between ditches with a 20 foot traffic way and a three inch per foot slope toward ditches. It cites complaints that roads are graded too high in the center and urges road overseers to adopt a low crown approach to improve drainage, reducing future hard surface costs under state and federal plans.
Linn County Road Overseers must mail reports of all work and material for their districts for 1917. Reports must reach the Brookfield officer by October 20 to help complete a county road report for the meeting at Brookfield on October 25 1917. Geo. W. Bailey.
Notice is given of the 16th annual stockholders meeting of the Peoples Bank at Browning Missouri on October 25 1917 at 9 am to continue at least three hours.
