J W Fields bought the old Wilson farm from A M Elliott for 80 per acre. Part lies within city bounds making it a bargain. He plans in town farming with seedings already made and a ditch project to redirect Mairs branch floodwater to drain the low land.
W B Calhoun and family left Tuesday for their new home in Laclede. He was one of our most prosperous farmers and his estimable family will prove valuable accessions to Laclede.

Notice to qualified voters in Linn and Sullivan counties Missouri that the Brown school district holds its annual meeting at the district school house on April 5 1910 at 7 a m. A bond proposal for 1500 dollars to install a heating plant and repair the schoolhouse is set with a term of 5 to 20 years and up to 5 percent interest. Elections for two three year directors to succeed E B Fields and W E Davis and a one percent levy for school purposes are to be voted on. Jon E Marvin district clerk. This 15th day of March 1910.
Saturday drew crowds to the Kollasch Millinery Parlor in the Odd Fellows building for a debut display. Miss Clay Patrick assisted by Bernice Bolling and Effie White presented a flowering, garden like arrangement with strong sales and pleased owner Mr Kollasch.
Nora Crowdis and Frances Seaman wed Tuesday night at 7 30 by Squire F G Peters. Only close relatives aware of the ceremony surprised many friends. Frances is the Seaman daughter. Nova Crowdis, a young farmer, is her husband’s relative. The couple begins married life with bright prospects.
The Big Store at Purdin launches Easter sale with a style exhibit featuring millinery suits dress goods silks and related items. The sale closes Saturday March 26th. Read their ad in this issue for details.

Dr. H C Pratt of Brookfield seeks the Republican nomination for county recorder in Linn county. An optician by trade for over nine years, Pratt is described as careful, correct, obliging, courteous, and an excellent penman. If nominated, he plans a thorough county wide canvass.
E A Jones announces his opening in todays paper. His new building is full of new machinery buggies and implements as he prepares for a three days sale from Thursday March 24 to Saturday March 26. Save tickets for the Deere No 9 corn planter drawing.
All interested parties are asked to meet Sunday March 27 at 3 oclock to organize Sunday School at Dry Ridge church. Committee members are Alice Bennett Madie Stone and Elsie Kennedy.
A. J. Cotter returned Saturday from a brief visit with his brother William Cotter near Linneus. He reports his brother is very poorly and in weak condition.
Miss Kathryn Knifong's millinery parlor drew ladies to Browning on Saturday for a spring opening. Assisted by Misses Alford Harvey Knifong Harvey Phillips and Morris the display impressed buyers, with the center of attraction remaining busy all day.
Leader highlights half page ad for J. J. Smith announcing a large ready to wear stock for ladies gents misses and youths at good prices. William Jewell Quartette entertained the Baptist church audience Tuesday night receiving praise from attendees. Ladies Aid credited for bringing high class entertainers to the city.
Vic Fields longtime president of Browning Mercantile Company has accepted a position with Steve Norris in Gallatin Missouri and left Sunday to start work this week. He is praised as a courteous up-to-date businessman with many friends in the community. Fleming's store celebrated its opening with F A Fleming assisted by F W Wiley of Kansas City and Case goods talk. A young lady is sought to learn to set type at the Leader-Record office.
