Missouri Coal Measures Detailed in Geological Survey Report
The Missouri Geological Survey reports that 87 coal beds in Missouri occur in Pennsylvanian coal measures, mainly in the northwest. Beds range 6 inches to 6 feet, cover large areas, with total coal thinner than 50 feet in the state’s 1600-foot coal-bearing sequence.
