Results of Improved Dry Farming
The Coulee City Dispatch reports that scientific dry farming can match two acres of old method yield on one. In 300 acres, M. E. Jolley averaged 39 1/2 bushels per acre, with a 50 acre field at 49 bushels. By deep plowing, mulching soil, and continuous cultivation, moisture is conserved for wheat and corn rotation, forecasting growth across the Big Bend region near Medical Lake to the Columbia River.
