Clarence Emerson Johnson died February 21 1951 in Kirksville Missouri after bronchial pneumonia. Born February 16 1873 to Andrew and Elizabeth Johnson he married Mae B Hoselton and had three children Alberta Faulkner Wilma Newman and Alison Johnson. Funeral at Locust Valley Baptist Church with interment in Hoovey cemetery administered by Wade Funeral Home.

The Twelfth Annual George Washington Tea, sponsored by the Wesleyan Service Guild of Browning Methodist Church, was hosted at the T. I. Bartow residence on February 22, 1951. About 150 guests attended as Mrs. Barton welcomed them and the Guild offered corsages to Mrs. Bartow, Mrs. Nellie Seaman, and Mrs. Arthur Bennett. The event featured red and white carnations, blue ribbons, hyacinths, and patriotic table decor with cherry sprigs, coffee and tea, white icing cakes, tea sandwiches, nuts, and red and white mints, reflecting a birthday tribute to George Washington.

The Linneus Bulletin ceased publication with the February 22 issue after being sold to Brookfield Publishing by C. F. Hargis. Costs and publishing problems spurred the sale, with the property purchased from Robert Bradley in May 1950. Consolidated with Brookfield Daily News, the new title Daily News Bulletin will publish daily except Saturdays and Sundays.
