Chester A Lantz son of Geo W and Nettie Lantz died at the Marine Hospital El Paso Texas and was buried at Port Arthur on Sunday June 18. Ill since February he underwent lung surgery with no relief. He was about 46 and had lived in Port Arthur for several years. Friends regret his untimely passing. He visited Century of Progress with Mr and Mrs Chester Bagley and Miss Mary Harper, returning from the World's Fair in Chicago.
Mr and Mrs Rufus Calihan entertained numerous relatives and friends on Sunday June 25 in honor of Mr and Mrs Bertram Harrison of New York City Mrs Harrison formerly Miss Edith Callihan and she and Mr Harrison are vacationing with her parents and relatives The day passed pleasantly at their hospitable home.

Basil Lay and Miss Marjorie Stufflebean wed at the M E Parsonage in Linneus on June 2 with Rev. S B Look officiating. The couple's reception included a charivari at the Stufflebean and Lay homes as friends toasted the union.Mrs. Lay is famed in the community for her education and social circles. Mr. Lay of near town recently worked in Chicago after schooling at Browning High and Chillicothe Business College. They plan to reside in Chicago. A Sunday birthday dinner for Lew Lawrence drew about 225 relatives neighbors and friends to his home. A noon feast featured a table fit for a king and a blessing by Mrs James Jennings. The Weter family provided music after dinner as guests departed hoping for an annual affair with a long list of attendees and family members.
Early yesterday morning rain visited this section after weeks of dryness. Farmers plowed through dust and wilted corn as heat scorched leaves. Cyrus Hermann Kotzschmar Curtis of Philadelphia dies at 83 after a life from a street newsboy to founder of Curtis Publishing. He launched the Tribune and Farmer at 26, created Ladies' Home Journal, led the Saturday Evening Post and Country Gentleman, and acquired the Philadelphia Public Ledger in 1913 and the New York Evening Post in 1923. His philanthropy was quiet yet notable. his daughter married editor Edward Bok.

The air conditioned, outfitted train includes coach parlor seating, a buffet, mail baggage space, and is designed to replace costly steam service with a self contained unit suitable for high demand centers.
