Aged Mother Dies in Kirksville Home of Daughter

Marietta Virginia Safreed Linhart born 1849 near Ravenswood West Virginia. She moved to Missouri in 1872 and lived on a farm near Browning before retiring to Browning. Survived by eight children including Edith Harris and several Linhart descendants. Funeral in North Salem with large local turnout.

P. E. O. Meeting Highlights July Home Session

The local P. E. O. Chapter met at Mrs. Nellie Seaman's home on Wednesday afternoon July 13. Eleven members attended. Mrs. Laura Hamilton reviewed "A Prince There was and his Lady Fair." Mrs. Kathryn Calhoun led a Missouri facts quiz. Refreshments were served.

George Elbert Kollasch left Wednesday July 13 for military training at Camp Des Moines Iowa. A pre departure birthday party was held Tuesday night at his home with guests Harvey James Nona Clair Neet Lorene Stone Lola Rae Bartow Dorothy and Clifford Chambers Carl Barrows Donald Warren Velma Smith Lois Kingsolver and Max Nile Freeland. Games and ice cream cake followed. guests wished him many happy returns and a good trip to camp.

The Browning Missouri Board of Education delayed a prior school project and approved a $1000 reduction, necessitating a new August 2 election. The PWA grant for a auditorium and gym was approved for $9,214, with work to proceed to enclose the building before cold weather.

Entertained Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Fuller and sons for Sunday dinner. July 10th attendees included Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Hooker and daughter Evelyn of Lineville Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hooker, Raymond and Bobby Tucker of Oklahoma City, and Miss Opal Williams. Miss Ida McQuown visited in the afternoon. Mrs. G. H. Hooker stayed on for a few days with her sister and family.

The North Salem Quilting Club met Bertha Lambert on July 14 in the afternoon. She suggested the warm weather makes an afternoon off harmless and the group enjoyed rest and social time. They viewed a quilt pieced by Henry's great grandmother after she became blind. In the rock garden they observed a scene that followed.
