Zenon Trudeau Civil Governor of Upper Louisiana Founder of Fort Carondelet
Zenon Trudeau served as lieutenant governor of Upper Louisiana from July 21, 1792, and pushed immigration economic plans to settle Spanish Louisiana. He backed the Missouri Company to exploit upper Missouri tribes and built Fort Carondelet with Auguste Chouteau to counter British Osage tensions. He welcomed settlers like Daniel Boone, promoted land grants, and fostered St. Louis growth while resisting Protestant restrictions. He died after 1803 in St. Charles Parish Louisiana.
