Will Canada Ban Evangeline From Schools
Canadian education critics discuss Rev. Dr. Cody’s push to remove Longfellow’s Evangeline from schoolbooks. The piece cites Haliburton’s 1829 historical account, defenses of the poem, and a broader debate on British era depictions and Acadian history. It notes Nova Scotia’s Evangeline heritage and preserved landmarks as a counterpoint.
