The Good Roads Convention in Jefferson City on May 15 and 16 drew delegates from most counties and many legislators. It endorsed a state road fund, county or district cost sharing, tax authority, road districts, a $5000000 state appropriation, a state road department, a materials laboratory, and legislative bills to implement these aims. First Passenger Train Through Unionville Dates Back to 1876

Conductor Scovern presented the original October 15 1876 train order showing construction trains reaching Unionville and the first passenger run designated as No 2 on October 16 1876. Jameson led the train with Scovern as brakeman, on a line later owned by John W. Smith and eventually C B Q. The aged order remains in fair condition.
