County Extension notes highlight record 4-H Club enrollment, expanded women's clubs, and broad youth activities. Farmers improved feed costs, pigs and calves produced at lower costs, and seed corn yields rose under the Linn OK program. Community leadership aided by 300 leaders and 50 specialists.
A fragmentary diary like note describes a Friday party with mention of Postoffice seating and a complaint about affectionate gestures. It also recalls an accident on the day with a fatality and a wife distraught, plus a stray line about Annie Prang delaying divorce after depression ends.
J. E. Merrifield, manager of the Cen tral Missouri Monument Co. at Chillicothe Missouri, reports the closing out sale still continues and will run until the stock is exhausted. See his ad elsewhere in this issue.
Funds have been set apart for payment of all outstanding Linn County warrants and jury warrants issued before November 1 1931. Payment with interest will be made on January 12 1932 upon proper endorsement at the County Treasurer's office in Linneus Missouri. Warrants issued in November and December 1931 are excluded. Thomas M. Davis of Linneus was found fatally shot on his back porch around 8 am while preparing to go to his farm. The shotgun discharge, while securing the gun, caused instant death. Davis, 74, formerly Browning resident, served as Linn County infirmary superintendent, Linneus city marshal, and Locust Creek township constable. he was well known for his smiling manner and warm friendships.

Emery Gray awoke to find his car missing from in front of his home. Tracks suggested the vehicle was driven away, damaged with a new tire and battery removed, then set ablaze before the trail broke off across several counties.
Miss Ella Kiethley entertained New Year’s evening from 7 to 9 with a small group of friends. The event included contests and social conversation followed by refreshments served by the hostess. Guests included Mesdames Josie Jones Matilda Haley Lou Carter Gertrude Fields Joe Harvey and Jennie Epperson.
The city loses a longtime home bakery as Herman Adams shuts the shop after years of competition from larger places. He will store his equipment and hopes for a spring reopening in a suitable building with community support anticipated.
Friends gathered at the home of Mrs. Zella Woodworth on Thursday evening around six o clock to celebrate her birthday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Williams, Keith Williams, Mrs. Cordin Swisegood, Allen Swisegood, Mrs. Maude Holliday, Miss Mary Smith, Miss Vera Sargent, and Mary Lee Kelly.
A large Potter family reunion occurred on Sunday December 27 as weather and mud kept many away, with family members planning to visit their dear home despite travel obstacles.

A small group gathered Tuesday January 12 to celebrate Roy M Calhoun turning 53. Friends described him as youthful in spirit, enjoyed candy doughnuts popcorn grape juice and water, and played games and recess before saying they hoped he would have many more birthdays.
Nina Hollon and Roscoe Miller were married January 1 1932 in Milan Missouri by Justice of the Peace Zina A Cleeton. The bride is daughter of Homer and Mrs Hollon of near Milan and attended local schools. The groom, son of S E Miller of Reger Missouri, is Milan High School class of 1931 graduate. They have moved to the groom's father's farm west of Reger for now.
Harvey Gene Jennings was born November 25 1931 to Mr and Mrs Duff Jennings and died December 31 1931 in Kirksville. The five week old child lived at Brookfield and Kirksville under physicians care. Funeral at White Oak Grove church January 1 conducted by Rev J E Rudolph with interment nearby. The bereaved parents express gratitude for the sympathy shown.
The Leader-Record reflects on forty seven years of publication with memories of ups and downs and vows to keep the paper going. It notes changing times, tax and printing costs, and hopes for prosperity in the New Year. Mrs. Mattie Duncan organized youth meetings and hospitality at a gathering. The next meeting is at Mrs. W W Crawford's home on January 21 1932.
R W Cassity of Purdin was in town Saturday afternoon greeting friends. Once paralyzed he fought back and, though limited, now walks with his left hand and says he can still do much work. Local friends glad to see his progress.
Report from the Hummel Wesley class dated January 7, 1932, at Mrs. Lou Carter’s home with 13 members and six guests. Mrs. Myrtle Seaman led devotional exercises and scripture from John 5 was read. recording secretary absent, Mrs. Hummel appointed.
K. W. Vencill of Purdin Missouri advertises oiling harness sets for 50 cents and invites customers to place orders for custom harnesses at new low prices, promising to tailor them to individual needs.
Edith Myrtle Clevenger Denn was born October 27 1880 in Sullivan County Missouri and died January 6 1932 at age 51. Her marriage to Robert Eberly Dennis on October 23 1889 produced son Setie Har old. She leaves husband son baby granddaughter father George Clevenger of Burns Oregon mother and stepfather Seth Griffith Linneus Missouri one brother Edward Clevenger Linn County Missouri and three half brothers Gallett Griffith Browning Missouri Trussel Griffith Rock Springs Wyoming and Arthur Griffith Purdin Missouri. A Baptist girl who joined Morris Chapel Methodist Church later in life she lived as a Christian of sympathetic helpfulness. Funeral services were held January 8 at 11 a.m. at Morris Chapel Church. Rev J E Rudloff officiated and interment followed nearby.

Mr and Mrs Roy Calhoun entertained at a one o’clock Sunday dinner on January 3rd with a turkey feast. Hostess assisted by Mrs Josie Jones served the meal to guests including S C Lantz and son Coleman Lorene Whaley Ella Keithley C M Thornton and Guy Adams.
The Miller family thanks friends for kindness during illness and burial of wife and mother Mrs. D. D. Miller and for the floral offerings from D. D. Miller and Children.
