American Legion Auxiliary Unit 274 Meets for December M eeting

Claude Myers Unit No. 274 met at the Legion Hall on December 26 with President Mrs. A G Thurlo presiding. They reported on a December 20 benefit card party and announced no regular eee card party will be held. The unit donated 10 to the Second District Rehab Project for a TV for Excelsior Springs Hospital third floor patients and delivered 15 Cheer Baskets and 3 candy boxes to shut-ins.

Baptists Ordain Four Deacons At Alpha Baptist Church

Alpha Baptist Church ordained four deacons on December 14. The men named were Carl Shaffer Harold Campbell Elbert Reed and Robert Burtch. The ordination council included Rev Beecher Shrum Rev B H Walker Rev Charles F Emerson Rev Tommy Moss and several deacons from nearby churches. The service featured remarks from Rev Moss and Rev Emerson and included the ordination prayer and laying on of hands.
