The Missouri House faced slow sessions, humorous outbursts, and a pushed investigation plan. Leaders argued over funding for a 30 year inquiry, while bills on road tax funds and judges' pay drew heated debate and a new St. Louis member shifted seating.
Enthusiasm grows as the Reading Circle progresses with all teachers on time. Saturday sessions on drawing music and handicrafts sparked earnest discussion and professional gains, with Mabel Rist and Ale Pat Saree noted among participants.
Herbert C Bingham born July 23 1888 died February 3 1915 at age 26 years 6 months 11 days after pneumonia. He worked with the same parties six years then illness forced him to quit and live with his brother in Browning until death. He leaves a mother four brothers and two sisters. Funeral at Browning home attended by many. interment Hoover Cemetery February 5 1915. W Clay
A letter from L C Gibson to Joseph Nickell requests a subscription extension to the Browning Leader-Record with a one dollar cashiers check. Gibson comments on improving business conditions in St Louis, rising bank deposits, and an optimistic view of inflation and lending terms by April 1st.
Browning High School debaters win a local contest with participants Gladys Riggin Jamies Anderson and Lee Ybee guided by Mrs Adams and Prof Page in a closely watched event at Browning.
Browning High School defeated Laclede High School in a Friday night debate at the Electric Theatre. The panel of judges Ruth Turner, J P Painter, and W W Clay unanimously backed the Browning negative on the resolution that immigration laws should be amended to further restrict. Glenn Freeland Delka Potter and George Bailey spoke for Laclede while Beverly Bolling Hazel Fields and Herman Atkins prepared Browning’s team. Special music by the Electric Theatre Orchestra accompanied the event.
Fred Chittum visited the high school Friday and Monday. Rev Frank Nickell led devotionals February 8. Miss Myra Broyles stopped attending due to ill health. Fields visited Thursday. Florence Fields substituted for Lena Adams who was ill. W C T U met February 5 with eight members. adjourned to March 5 at Mrs Calhoun’s. H N Thurlo returned from Mexico Saturday. G C A Brantner of North Salem called and renewed for the home paper. W H Minon of Tefft Indiana also called.
A Missouri resident died possessed of seventeen mules and three sons. The administrator tried to divide by halves thirds and ninths but failed with five mules. He added one mule, making eighteen, then gave nine to the eldest six to the middle and two to the youngest, leaving none. He then returned the extra mule and left rejoicing.
