James W Brinkley Dies at Home after Long Life

James W. Brinkley born October 18 1858 at Cora Missouri died December 5 1938 after a long life in Sullivan County and surrounding area. He married Julia Ann Wood December 25 1881 and the couple had thirteen children. Funeral services were held December 6 at White Oak Church with interment in White Oak cemetery. He leaves a wife three children twenty seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren along with siblings and many relatives.

Thomas Bullock, longtime Lemhi County resident and carpenter, died November 21 at Salmon General Hospital at age 86. Born June 10, 1852 in Canada, he later lived in Illinois and married Nel lie Nancy. Survived by a stepdaughter Stella Jine gar and two sisters Belle Kin fong and Maggie Hayes. funeral held at Doebler chapel with Rev. Fitzgerald officiating.

Donald Wesley Smith born March 8 1919 near Youngstown Missouri died December 1 1938 in a Baiotto Mine accident near Youngstown. He leaves his parents brothers Kenneth Robert Neal and others and many cousins. He was a member of Local Union No 2686 United Mine Workers of America at Kirksville and known for his good nature.

First payment made to contractor for Browning PWA project

The School District of Browning has issued the first payment to Haren and Peterson Construction for the $20 476 Public Works Administration financed auditorium and gymnasium. The Federal grant covers 45 percent of the cost with 15 percent allocated to the district at start and the remainder at construction stages. The district’s first 25 percent requisition of 5119 20 was approved and sent to Washington. Progress is satisfactory and occupancy may occur by February if weather holds.
