Bounty Proclaimed For Wolves At Linn County Court

At December meeting the Linn County Court arranged a bounty program to begin January 1 offering five dollars for adult wolves and two fifty for cubs to spur hunting activity.

State to Restore Bounty to Ten Dollars in County Plan

The county bounty, a small share of a larger state payment, is expected to be restored to 10.00 dollars after a state appropriation. This would bring the county bounty back to the level seen in prior years.

At the annual Farm Bureau meeting in Linneus a 1930 board of directors and a program were adopted. The constitution was amended to hold Aguinal Meeting in October. The 11 directors include Leslie Keley and W. P. Brinkley among others. The program covers sheep and lambs, dairy, soils, beef cattle, hogs, poultry, women clubs, boys and girls clubs, and wild carrot eradication.

Obituary for John L Guyer Seventy Years in Linn County

John L Guyer aged 86 died December 6 1929 in Linn County Missouri. He was born April 3 1843 in Kentucky and moved to Linn County as a child living on the family farm his entire life. He married Elizabeth Fosher June 17 1866 and had 11 children. He served in the 42nd Missouri Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War and helped establish Bear Branch Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at Bear Branch with burial in Green Castle cemetery.

Mary Ellen Jones born May 27 1860 near Milan Sullivan county Missouri died November 20 1929 at her daughter’s home near Green Castle Missouri aged 69 years 5 months 20 days. She married William M George in 1882 who died July 4 1895. She had six children with him and four with Silas E Jones along with many grandchildren and siblings. She joined the Methodist church early then the primitive Baptist church and lived a faithful Christian life.
